Originating in Germany, all poodles combined are known as some of the most intelligent breeds of dogs. They are found in a number of sizes – toy, small, medium, and large – as well as a variety of curly fur colors – white, black, brown, tan, and mixtures of these colorings. What’s interesting to note about their long hair is that while it is quite expansive at times, it is also low shed. This means you’re not going to be following your poodle around trying to clean up the mess. This is a great thing to keep in mind when someone in the home has allergies. Dogs with a low tendency to shed are often much more tolerable.

All poodles combined are generally given a number of different haircuts for personal pets as well as for show purposes. Some of the examples of show clips include the Second Puppy, English Saddle Clip, and Continental Clip. Each of these clips will accentuate different parts of the poodle body, allowing the tail and the face to be free of fur in order to be easily examined. Some pet owners also prefer to have their standard poodles’ coats corded, which is a way of curling the hair in neater patterns of rope like strands.

As you already know, the poodle is a highly intelligent breed of dog. They like to be active and to interact with other people. As a result, owners who might not be in their homes often may not want to choose a poodle. The poodle might become restless and begin to stir up trouble in your absence. Overall, their temperaments are sweet and alert. And while their frilly appearance might seem otherwise, this is actually a breed that is designed for hunting.

Since the standard poodle is eager to please, this is a pet that will be perfect for those who live alone and for those who don’t want a dog that just sits around and sleeps. They like to run around, to exercise, and to go for daily walks. They can provide activity for those who are homebound, while also being interactive enough to provide pleasant company.
